sufiyaan salam

sufiyaan salam is a bafta-nominated, bifa-winning writer (& former animator) from blackburn.

he co-wrote the short film MAGID / ZAFAR (bfi/film4) with luis hindman. it premiered at london film festival in 2025.

he won stormzy’s #merky books new writers prize and was listed as one of the observer’s best debut novelists for, well, his debut novel, WIMMY ROAD BOYZ (penguin random house), out 2026.

he has various projects in various states of development, incl. with bfi, film4, hera & sister.
